What is Scaffold? Scaffold is a non-profit organization that will give fellowships to emerging and mid-career artists.
What is different about Scaffold? Scaffold is run by artists. The funding for our fellowships will come from the community being served, through small contributions and applications fees. As the number of applications increases the amount/number of individual grants will increase proportionally.
How can I help? You can give a tax-deductible contribution, submit your work for a an upcoming grant, or volunteer or intern for us.
When is the first grant deadline? We will begin accepting applications in early fall ‘09 for Photography. Sign up for our mailing list and we will notify you when the deadline is announced.
What disciplines will you fund? We are still developing our program, but we will probably start with New Media, Painting, Photography, and Sculpture.
How many grants will be given? Our goal is to set up a bi-monthly grant schedule in various disciplines.
Who will review the submissions? The fellowships will be awarded by an alternating panel consisting of prominant artist professionals and Scaffold staff.
Why are you doing this? We firmly believe that artists should find ways to create their own opportunities. Arts funding seemed like a great place to start, since there is not much of it for individual artists. Also, giving away money makes you feel good.
Who are you? Scaffold was founded by artist, Kent Rogowski.
